Podcast 4

Second podcast topic I heard today was a world of fake Instagram followers, comments and likes. Podcast called „Fake me an influencer” explained how does Instagram world really works. The first thing, which shoked me was an information that 20-30% of Instagram celebrities buy their likes. Some of them even create fake ecounts, only to gain more followers and seem more popular than actually are. There's a machine, made to give people these fake likes, comments, followers in just few seconds. I'm very surprised how small amount of time and how low effort we need to become „famous” on social media. Also, for certain people it's a full time job to sell these likes! What I'll remember from this video is to not always believe numbers on my screen. Someone could buy them for just a few dollars.

Podcast 3

Today, I listened to a podcast „Who wants to be a billionaire?”. It was about people who are already billionaires and they discussed a problem of unfair division of money in the world.  During last years number of billionaires have hugely grown but so did a number of extremely poor people. Many politicians propose to introduce higher taxes from the biggest fortunes to decrease social inequalities (f.e. to found the national health care system or a good education). . Some of them are even radical in their statements, saying that „nobody should be a bilionaire”. In their opinion, everyone should live equally and wealthy. I don't have a clear opinion about this issue because my economic's knowledge is not big enough to form it. These rich people worked hard for their fortunes but letting social inequalities grow can cause many problems in the future.

Podcast 2

Today I heard the BBC podcast about hair discrimination. The title was "I lost my job because of my hair". When I saw this title I started laughing but after some time people talking in the podcast convienced me that for them it is a serious issue. Especially for black people, who sometimes had to change their natural afro because it seemed inappropriate for their bosses. Some of them agreed but the others not and they startd seeing this as a hair discrimination. I've never heard before of this case so I was surprised that hair discriminiation actually exists and people lose their jobs because of such insignificant thing as hair. I'm content it doesn't concern me. Still, I don't agree with any form of the discrimination and I hope the petition about this issue will get into the parliament.

Podcast 1

This evening, I listened to the BBC podcast called "Is a vegan diet better for your health?". The speaker made a few interviews with people who set up with a vegan diet a couple years ago and asked them questions how it influenced their health. A bad news is that almost everyone had to suplement a vitamine B12 and watch carefully what do they eat- how many proteins or iron do they have in their meals. So I found out creating your own healthy vegan diet takes a lot of time. But the good news is that vegans are thiner, have a lower level of cholesterol and smaller risk of suffering from a cancer. Even if this diet looks difficult to make, it pays off after some time.

Recently, I've been thinking about how other people influence us and our decisions. It seems simple, maybe because we hear everyday that no one besides us is responsibile for what we do. And that's true. But decision is only a final result of the whole process of thinking.  At first, we have a plan. Later, many things can happen and it depends from them if our plan will work or not. These things can be our thoughts but also other people.  And in my opinion, it's good to be able to listen to the others and have our own conclusions. Still, the final result should be what we want to do, not our family or friends.

Some time ago I had a reflection about how our tries affect reality. It was caused by the situation where I tried very hard to do something, at least quite well but for a long time (for weeks) I couldn't. Supposedly, I did it today. I didn't try any harder, I think it was only a resulat of my previous work. Still, I'm happy with that and I can see that many things are worth trying. Maybe I'm not going to be the best person doing that thing but I can be good in it and it's enough for now.

It's quite common to go to sleep lately. Maybe even more of us do that than don't. We know what we should do- everyone tells us from our childhood. But we still don't go to sleep early. It can be caused by many obligations that we have or society treating long sleep as something bad. For me, sleeping shortly and going to bed lately became kind of indication of working hard. I can be wrong but I noticed we started caring much more about a feeling of success than about our health and mood during the day. And even if I know a few poeple living in a different way, for most of us changing bad sleeping habits is only a good plan for the future.
